The special trail on the Nechnitz

Creating wood carvings with a power saw is the hobby of Erich Haider-Harrer, who is also a landlord and farmer on the Nechnitz, the high plateau in the municipality of Fladnitz an der Teichalm. With his wooden figures, primarily native forest animals, he has now designed a wonderful trail from the Nechnitz almost to the summit of the Gschaidberg.

The trail starts right at the Gasthof Haider. There are more than 45 different wooden figures, benches, an energy well and information boards along the 1.5 km trail to the summit. There, a wonderful panoramic view of the Rote Wand, the Hochlantsch and the Sommeralm area awaits you to the north. To the south, you have a view over to the Schöckl and to the surrounding peaks. With the help of the large display board, the mountains can be easily identified.

If you would like to do a longer hike, you can continue on trail No. 2 or 740 to the Teichalm area.

Walking time for the wooden sculpture trail: approx. 2 hours. Trail length: 3 kilometres with a 260 metre gain in elevation
