Hiking with a view and refreshments

The Almenland Nature Park is perfect for hiking! Numerous hiking trails and mountain peaks between the Teichalm and Sommeralm create a wonderful offer for guests who love hiking. The hikes over the alpine pastures and from hut to hut are particularly beautiful - because hiking also makes you hungry.

Please treat the people who work here, nature and animals with respect! By enjoying or purchasing regional products, you can support the work of our farmers! Good cooperation is only possible if the 10 rules of conduct for alpine visitors are adhered to. So that the alpine pastures remain open for leisure users!

    Good to know!

The Almenland Nature Park is the largest low-alpine pasture area in Europe with a total of 125 alpine pastures. Unlike national parks, nature parks are not primeval landscapes, but rather man-made cultural landscapes. The free alpine pastures only exist thanks to the tireless, hard work of our farmers, who keep the alpine pastures free of undergrowth by turning and driving cattle and thus make it possible to hike through the alpine pastures with a clear view of the landscape. Please treat the people who work here, nature and animals with respect! By enjoying or purchasing regional products, you can support the work of our farmers! Good cooperation is only possible if the 10 rules of conduct for alpine visitors are adhered to. So that the alpine pastures remain open for leisure users!

Hunting has also been part of our mountain pastures for centuries. It ensures a healthy animal population and uses the shooting plan to prevent game damage from getting out of hand. Hunting is also part of alpine pasture management. Hikers and cyclists are asked to adhere to the following rules:

    • To ensure that wild animals have enough rest, please avoid hiking between one hour before sunset and one hour before sunrise! During the hunting season it is also for your own safety because hunting takes place at dusk.
    • Please stay on the paths and ensure that you are clearly visible, especially at dusk (light, colorful clothing and headlamps).
    • Dogs must always be kept on a leash!
    • Pay attention to signs! If driven hunts are announced, avoid the area extensively or avoid the hike altogether.

We would like to thank the members of the Alpine Association and Nature Friends for the often laborious maintenance and signage of the hiking trails!

Please make sure you have the right equipment:

    • Take appropriate food and enough water with you - or check the places to stop for refreshments along the way.
    • A good hiking shoe is a good companion and should never be missing.
    • Emergency equipment (blister plasters!) belongs in every backpack.
    • Dress according to the “onion principle” and don’t forget about rain protection.
    • Don't forget sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking map and camera.
