A cozy walk
This easy-to-walk tour leads through the districts of Kirchdorf and Pernegg and is ideal in combination with a stop over the excellent local innkeepers.
The municipality of Pernegg is located directly on the Mur, 10 km south of Bruck an der Mur and 40 km north of Graz. Pernegg has a share in the Murradweg R2 and the mountain bike route Drachentour and is therefore a mecca for cyclists. Through the stations Pernegg and Mixnitz on the Southern Railway Line, the municipality of Pernegg is the gateway to the Almenland.
The first human traces were already found about 50,000 years ago in the Dragon Cave near Mixnitz. In 1103 "Gerhoch de Trevesse" (Traföß) was first mentioned in a document as the oldest owner of the Pernegger area. In 1130 the parish church in Kirchdorf, the Maximilian Church, is named in a document, in 1439 the first small frauenkirche in Pernegg was built.
Pernegg has a vibrant business life with many commercial and commercial enterprises, as well as the hydroelectric power plant of the Autstrian Hydro Power AG incl. show turbine.
