Home of Peter Rossegger

Writer and poet

The great Styrian poet, who was even considered for the Nobel Prize, was born as a farm boy on the Alpl. In the later years of his life, he returned to Krieglach where he purchased a house for his family. In addition to donations to various churches in the region, he also looked after the education of the alpine farmers’ children and built the Waldschule for them.

Today the house of his birth, the residence in Krieglach and the Waldschule are home to worthwhile exhibitions about Peter Rosegger’s life.
