Route description

Nearly 110 kilometres of family fun from the source of the Raab in the Almenland to Szentgotthard in Hungary. The family biking trail passes through small, romantic towns such as Weiz or Feldbach, running past apple orchards and vineyards, pumpkin and corn fields all the way into the spa country. The Raabtalweg (R11) only has one challenging hill. It is right at the beginning, after that you only go downhill.

The bicycle trail starts at the source of the Raab above Passail in the Naturpark Almenland. For the first few kilometres, the trail follows the river before the Raab disappears in the “Große Raabklamm”. For cyclists, that means having to ride over the mountain to Weiz. From Arzberg you cross the Gösser and then head down to the district capital via Haselbach. After this somewhat strenuous leg of the journey, the trail leads through the flat Raabtal valley to Hungary.

Tip:
This trail is especially nice in the spring and autumn when the rather tall corn fields have not grown up yet, or have been harvested. Then the view is much better!
